Step through the garden and you'll find our quiet showroom — a small corner of Sisters Kabalana filled with hand-selected pieces from makers along the south coast.
Cotton totes, natural soaps, limited-edition tees, surf wax and a few keepsakes we love. Everything is made to be used, worn or packed for the journey home.
Two sisters from Istanbul who never went home.
We’re Burcu and Burçin. In 2017 we left our careers in Istanbul to travel, and by 2019 Sri Lanka had stopped being somewhere we visited and started being home.
We began with a four-room guesthouse, painting and decorating every room ourselves. A tiny café followed in the same garden — because we grew up around long, crowded tables where there was always room for one more.
Today Sisters is a café, a guesthouse and a private villa, run by a team of fourteen women from our village. What matters hasn’t changed: welcoming people with the warmth we grew up with.
Two doors, one grove.
The guest house sits 800 metres from the café and Kabalana Beach entrance — a wander past coconut palms, tuk-tuks and morning surfers.
